Royal China - Canary Wharf
A good option for me to fulfil those dim sum cravings without having to go into Central.
What it lacks in exceptionality, it more than makes up with its convenient location and reliably decent dishes. So much so that we regularly eat here with my parents as it’s easier for them to get here than drive into town (and paying the Congestion Charge too!).
My go-to dishes are the usual dim sum classics of fried yam paste meat dumplings, turnip cake, har gau, and siu mei. If I’m feeling particularly hungry, then their seafood with crispy noodles hits the spot.
Whilst I’ve been here for dinner a few times, I do prefer coming here for lunch as well as sticking to their dim sum menu over ordering from their a la carte menu.
Finally, a pro tip: on the weekends, it’s best to get here for the first sitting otherwise you’ll end up queuing for ages. That means getting there to pick up your queue ticket by 11:40 on a Sat (for a 12:00 opening) or 10:30 on a Sun (for an 11:00 opening).
