Barrafina - Borough Yards

Always exciting when Barrafina opens up another restaurant and this was no exception.

Their first restaurant south of the river, they’ve taken up a space underneath the London Bridge railway arches in the Borough Yards development.

Tucking into our go-to dishes (pan con tomate, banderilla, and the classic tortilla), they were all reassuringly on point and lived up the standard set by their older siblings.

And, just as with them, the specials is where the main action is.

The two dishes we had were stand out. Starting with the tomato salad with veutresca. The former being another lesson in how much flavour they extract from their ingredients and the latter being tuna on another level.

But the star of the meal was the turbot ajada. One of the best takes on this dish I can recall and one of the best turbot dishes period - even beating ones from Michelin starred venues.

Overall, a worthy addition to the Barrafina stable.
